CHRONICITY OF DEPRESSION
In approximately half of all cases of major depression, the course of the disorder is found to be chronic, either in the form of recurring depressive episodes or as unremitting depression.

DEPRESSION AND SELF-CARE IN DIABETES
Depressive symptoms, even at levels too low to warrant a diagnosis of major depression, are found to be associated with poorer diabetes self-care.

TREATMENT STRATEGIES FOR SSRI-RESISTANT DEPRESSION IN ADOLESCENTS
In the treatment of SSRI-resistant depression in adolescents, switching to another SSRI is found to have advantages over switching to venlafaxine. Also, when switching medications, adding cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is found to improve outcome.

FDA NEWS AND REVIEW
Approval (new indications): Several indications for the use of Abilify (aripiprazole) have been expanded pertaining to age of patient, and/or maintenance therapy, and/or adjunctive use.

Approval (new indication): Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) is now approved for use in adults for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). (It previously was indicated for use only in children.)
