PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY NOTE

Serotonin reuptake inhibition by antidepressants is found to be associated with increased risk of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in elderly patients with previous gastrointestinal bleeding, and in very elderly patients in general.
The use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) may lower the risk of myocardial infarction (MI).
