QUICK REFERENCE #17: What is the National Runaway Switchboard?
The National Runaway Switchboard consists of a telephone hotline and Web site for runaway and homeless youth. The National Runaway Switchboard is a federally-designated national communication system. "Kids and family members—parents, siblings, other relatives—call at all times to work through problems and find others—agencies, organizations—who can help. Some callers just need someone to talk to; others need help finding a shelter, food, medical assistance, or counseling. Some callers are on the streets; others are struggling with other issues and we work with them to identify options to prevent them from leaving their home, when possible and if appropriate."

QUICK REFERENCE #18: What is the Eldercare Locator?
The Eldercare Locator maintains a database of more than 4800 services for seniors. Seniors or their caregivers can telephone an Eldercare Locator information specialist to help identify local services. Also, a portion of the Eldercare Locator data can be accessed on the Web. Eldercare Locator is a service of the US Administration on Aging.
