• 4.5 million adults have Alzheimer's disease (AD). [10% of those over age 65 have AD.]

• AD is the most common type of dementia.

• In rare, inherited forms of the disease, AD can occur in people as early as their 30s and 40s.

• “From the time of diagnosis, people with AD survive about half as long as those of similar age without dementia.”
